Alzheimers Disease, is there a Cure?

The brain is compromised of 60% fat.
— Debi Pearl

What a devastating disease is Alzheimer’s! Not only to the one experiencing it but also to the family and caregivers!

Unfortunately, there has been little or nothing one could do to stop this disease in its tracks. The medical world offers no real answers for this. Again, as many have done, we need to turn to nutrition to find any hope at all.

Studies are rolling in on Medium Chain Fatty Acids as a cure for Alzheimer’s or traumatic brain injuries.

Where are Medium Chain Fatty Acids Found

Medium-chain fatty acids are mostly found in tropical oils such as coconut oil, palm kernel oil, or olive oil. It is also found in nuts, seeds, and fish. Another source is butterfat taken from grass-fed cows.

We have been well versed that a low-fat diet is the diet we need. But if you are awake you will notice that the low-fat boat is overloaded with overweight people and about to sink! Instead of heart health and cancer rates declining they have actually skyrocketed since the low-fat diet was introduced!

We need fat in our diet but we need good fats! If you are looking at butterfat from dairy to add to your diet, make sure it is raw and unpasteurized.

If you are looking at tropical oils make sure they are unrefined, non-hydrogenated with no trans fats.

When you start adding coconut oil to your diet do so with caution. Start with 1 tablespoon and work your way up. Some can handle 6 tablespoons a day but some get diarrhea, depending on the size of the person.

I have found an easy and tasty way to get my kids to eat coconut oil, for it is essential for growing kids’ brains to have these fats too.

Healthy Fudge

1 cup coconut oil, softened 1/4 cup raw honey

1/2 cup cocoa powder 1/2 cup almond or peanut butter

Beat coconut oil until smooth. Mix in the rest of the ingredients. Pour into a small pan and set into the refrigerator to cool. Cut into 1-inch squares (about the equivalent of 1 tablespoon)

This recipe is so versatile. I love to add flax or chia seed. Nuts or raisins are good. If it isn’t sweet enough add more honey.

This is just a sneaky way of getting your kids or an elderly person to eat healthy fats and mine fell for it!
